When will you have begonia bulbs?
We have them in now. We have had them for a few weeks and they are going fast so I suggest coming as soon as you can.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Do you have Itoh Peonies and if so, what varieties?
Hi, We will be receiving some Itoh Peonies by tomorrow. We will have ‘Julia Rose’, ‘Mary Brillant’, “Duchess De Lorraine’, and ‘Bartzella’.
Do you have any peonies? I am looking for any peonies, but the more full grown they are the better. I know that peonies and Socal is difficult.
Hi Matt,
Unfortunately you just missed the peony season. As you mentioned, peonies and Southern California are generally not a good combination. However, there is one group of peonies that defy this rule. They are called ‘Itoh” peonies and Roger’s Gardens helped to pioneer them in SoCal several years ago. They even bloom reliably right on the coast. The Itoh series essentially does not need a cold winter to perform well – and it is the only series that has proven this quality so far. I would strongly discourage you from growing any other peony in our area – it will be a disappointment. Itoh peonies are grown in limited numbers and the supply is always a big challenge. We contract these well in advance and bring them into the store when they are budded and blooming. Our supply for the year was brought in about a month ago and sold out in one week. They are big, beautiful plants in five gallon pots. Unfortunately, we will not have another supply until the same time next year. I doubt very much that you will find any of these peonies anywhere in SoCal right now.
I know that’s not the news you wanted, but I hope it is helpful. Best, Ron
