Discover the strong connection between habitat and plants from Ron Vanderhoff, our Resident Naturalist, Horticulturist and Ecologist. This fully illustrated program will feature some of the rare natural habitats in and around Orange County, the plants that grow there and why. You will learn about Orange County’s vernal pools, mountain waterfalls, mima mounds, serpentine outcrops, rock cliffs, maritime chaparral, rare geology, our mountain peaks and more. We will discuss the rare plants that grow in these habitats and why; all designed to help you to become a better steward of your own garden environment. Ron has been hunting the normal, as well as the rare wild plants of our region for decades and is both a native plant and garden plant expert. He is a CA Native Plant Society board member and leads their Field Trips, Rare Plants and Invasive Plants programs. He serves on regional and state committees and is a contributor to garden and native plant publications and research.
